BNSI’s laboratory performs tests in the following areas:
- Soils and Materials;
- Chemistry;
- Microbiology;
- Textiles;
- Metrology.
The functions of the laboratory include:
- Testing products to ensure their conformity to Barbados National Standards;
- Promoting accreditation of businesses and organizations;
- Proficiency testing of all laboratories;
- Participation in the work of the Inter-American Metrology System (SIM);
- Participation in the CROSQ/IDB project to establish a Regional Quality Infrastructure.
